Hatchet 3 is the Hatchet's horror film of 2013. It tells the story of Victor Crowley, his murderous rampage through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder plays Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn portrays Deputy Winslow, Rileah vanderbilt portrays Misty.
The utilization of special effects is the primary strength of this movie. Hatchet 3 is a modern horror film that relies heavily on CG effects. Hatchet 3 focuses mainly on practical makeup effects and sets. This results in some truly horrifying scenes.
The cast is solid, with Kane Hodder proving to be an intimidating villain. The dialogue is funny and clever enough to make it feel like an 80s slasher film. There are some really funny moments that offer an entertaining contrast to the heartbreaking action.
Unfortunately, the film's budget was restricted to just one million dollars. This means that many locations featured in the film are repeated from previous films. A boat house is used twice and most of the scenes feel like they're recycled from other films. It can seem like it's all too familiar at times especially for people who've already watched Hatchet or Hatchet 2
Overall, Hatchet 3 was an enjoyable series. I enjoyed the violent thrills it offered as well as the engaging performances of the (blog) cast members.
